Overpowered, the Knicks quietly dispose of the Nets
The Knicks traveled to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the New York Derby against a Nets team that struggled early in the season and couldn’t count on Cam Thomas. Unsurprisingly, it’s the visitors who take control of this game starting the match 8-0 up Michael Porter Jr (25 points, 4 rebounds) opened the scoreboard for his team with an arrow from a distance.
This dominance of New York continues throughout this first act, first thanks to a Mikal Bridges who made his first three shots from behind the arc while Jalen Brunson (19 points, 7 assists) converts 3+1 and gives the Knicks a 13-point lead (36-22).
In the second quarter, Jordan Clarkson puts his hand on the match. The former Jazz player scored 11 points on 5/6 shooting to halt the Nets’ scoring surge and allow his team to still be ahead when he returned to the locker room (77-62).
A walk in the park for the Knicks
After the break, the Knicks first develop thanks to a new long-range arrow fromAnd the Anunobi (19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists), his fourth dinner, and then the wing found Mikal Bridges, who in turn made a 3-point shot and gave the guests more than 20 points in advance (83-62). The two baskets were part of a 14-1 run for Mike Brown’s men to start the second half and put the cover away for good.
With the score 112 to 79 before the start of the fourth act, Mike Brown was able to open his bench, enough to give three Frenchmen a chance Guerschon Iabusele, Pacome Dadiet etc Mohammed Diawara to show off. The latter also finished with five points on 2/2 shooting and 1/1 from distance.
The Knicks won 134-98 and won their fourth straight to make it six-three before hosting the Grizzlies in a back-to-back on Monday.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The Knicks are terrible from the beginning. To make the match easier, Mike Brown’s men were surgical from the start with an 8-0 run to put pressure on the Nets. The spacing created by the powerful Mikal Bridges from behind the 3-point line with his 3/3. This good start of the match allowed the guests to dominate from the first to the last minute, without Brooklyn being able to get back into the game.
– Michael Porter Jr. Alone Again. However, the Nets tried to get back into the game behind Michael Porter Jr., the author of 25 points, but he was too alone again. Without Cam Thomas, the Nets offense was quickly limited and only Drake Powell managed 15 points on a solid 6/8 shooting off the bench. Conversely, on the Knicks side, the collective shined. If Mychal Bridges and Jalen Brunson showed up early, Jordan Clarkson could take over in the second quarter while Karl-Anthony Towns was very good throughout the match with 28 points and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes of play.
– The French stretch their legs a little. As has often been the case with the French Knicks since the start of the season, their playing time is limited. If Gershon Yabusele played ten minutes, he was clumsy, finishing the game with five points on 1/6 shooting. He wasn’t the only one who lacked success as Pakom Dadije scored two points, all of them making free throws in the final seconds of the game. The only bright spot was Mohamed Diawara who did not miss a shot with five points on 2/2 and 1/1 from distance. On the Nets side, Nolan Traore he hasn’t played since he was in the G-League with the Long Island Nets.
