Pascal Siakam cooks Chet Holmgren to send the rematch of the Finals to OT

The first week of the 2025-26 season continued on Thursday with a rematch of the NBA Finals between Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite that several key players from both teams were sidelined due to injurythe game lived up to its popularity. The Pacers were able to send the game to overtime as the All-Star big man Pascal Sakak hit the clutch through Grom the great man Chet Holmgren with only about six seconds remaining. The Thunder failed to score on their next possession as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s shot fell short, prompting the extra five minutes.

In overtime, another Pacer in Benedikt Maturin got to the basket to send it to the second overtime. Pascal Siakam’s fourth-quarter jumper for the Pacers to initially send the game into overtime ended up being even more massive in retrospect.

The Pacers entered the game with injuries to both of their point guards in Tyrese Halliburton and TJ McConnell. During the game, Andrew Nembhard ended up being sidelined with a shoulder injury. Nembhardt was expected to step in as the starting quarterback in Halliburton’s absence.

But even without the available point guards, the Pacers still struggled with the defending champs. But the Thunder were also without key players. All-star forward Jaylen Williams is dealing with a wrist injury and has yet to make his season debut after offseason surgery. The Thunder were also without Cason Wallace who has a knee injury. Wallace played in the team’s first win against the Houston Rockets.
