Pascal Siakam imposed his will on the Wizards
He has never lost many matches since the beginning of his career, and while playing in the final last June, Pascal Miss is going through a very strange and very busy season. The Pacers are in last place in the league while the Cameroonian is having, statistically, one of his best seasons with an average of 23.9 points.
His team is on a losing streak, but we can’t say that the 2019 NBA champion is giving up. He is fighting. Proof against the Wizards, where he scored 24 points, including 14 in the second quarter, with 11 rebounds. In just 26 minutes, he shows a +/- of +32!
“He decided that we will not lose this match”, says Rick Carlyle. “He was very aggressive. As good as he was in attack, he was just as good in defense and rebounding, maybe even better.”
It was easy for him because the Wizards didn’t want to take on a double whammy against the former Toronto player. Pascal Siakam was delighted. “There are a lot of games where I have a couple of defenders on my back, with two or three players in front of me. Well, they didn’t do that, so that was good. We can take our positions.”he points out.
“In this situation, many veterans would lose motivation. Not him.”
So yes, beating Washington (2-16) is no mean feat, but it must be noted that this is only Indiana’s third win of the season. That’s why it should be enjoyed properly, according to the interior.
“We can’t take this for granted. Every night you have to fight and when you win often, you take it as a habit. You have to appreciate, enjoy every possession, every victory and you know, and this is very important what it takes to get there. We are tired of losing. We can’t lose, that’s our way of thinking. We have to give everything for this.”
Rick Carlisle can only admire the attitude of his leader, who is trying hard and putting up good games at the same rate that the Pacers suffer defeats…
“It can be said in a few words: he is a great player”says the coach. “That’s why we brought him.” He’s gotten better since he got here. It became more difficult and in this situation many veterans would lose motivation, start to question things. Not him. He’s included in this franchise, for the fans. »
