Pat McAfee spoofs Michael Jordan in the NBA on NBC debut

The debut of the new NBA league on NBC it started on Tuesday for the opening night of the NBA. Plus, the the addition of Michael Jordan as a contributor was something fans were eagerly anticipating.

However, Jordan’s debut performance was met with some confusion. For example, said Bill Simmons There was no excitement in Jordan’s interview with Mike Thirickalthough he said he was still thrilled by Jordan’s presence.

In addition, Pat McAfee expressed his own confusion at seeing Jordan, according to The Pat McAfee Show. Speaking to Ty Schmidt, McAfee thought he would see Jordan in the studio as an analyst.

He cites Wayne Gretzky’s role in TNT’s NHL coverage as an example.

“I, in my stupid brain, and maybe because I’m too simple, I thought he was going to be Wayne Gretzky up there,” he said. “Like I thought there was a chance we’d see him in the studio.”

“You’re not stupid because that was a commodity that we must have been selling there for a while,” Schmidt said.

“I was so blown away,” McAfee said.

Michael Jordan’s role on NBC’s NBA in context

To clarify, Jordan will serve as a “special contributor” to NBC. Part of that will include the “MJ: Insights to Excellence” series. The goal of the series will provide a historical reflection on his career as well as offer his insight into the current state of the game.

“He’s just sitting with Tirik,” McAfee said. “Down there at the crib. They’re just talking a little bit, they’re going to go through some stuff. Which is obviously great to get more content from Michael Jordan. Anytime you get Michael Jordan talking, that’s great, but that’s what I was excited about him doing live in real time.”

Schmidt was able to point out that Jordan taking on the typical role of an analyst would not bow to who he is.

“How fucking stupid am I?” Schmidt asked. “Like he’s going to go to Oklahoma City and take the field tonight, what a moron.”

“I’m so ashamed of myself,” McAfee said. “It was hard to watch, like you idiot. You know the business, like Michael Jordan…”

Luckily, this won’t be the first or last time Jordan will be seen, given how guarded he is.
