Patrick Beverly arrested for aggravated assault in Texas

Former NBA point guard Patrick Beverley was arrested for aggravated assault in Texas, TMZ reports. Beverley last played in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks and has been playing abroad in Israel ever since.
TMZ reported it Beverley was “taken into custody Friday at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in Richmond, Texas” and that the charge against him is assault on a family/household member that impairs breathing or circulation, a third-degree felony. They said his bail was set at $40,000, which he posted, and that he was expected to be released later in the day on Friday.
Beverley has managed to stay in the headlines since the end of his NBA career with his “Pat Bev Podcast,” in which he has dissed prominent figures such as Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young, and has also sparked controversy with recent comments about Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson and his girlfriend, rapper Megan Thee.
It is unclear at this time the exact circumstances that led to Beverly’s arrest on Friday. Beverley has been a journeyman throughout his NBA career, fitting in with a host of teams including the Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and others. Although he was never a starter-caliber player, over time he became known for his antics and defensive intensity, which helped him develop a love-him-or-hate-him personality among fans.
It remains to be seen when Beverly’s first court appearance will be.
