Patrick Dumont wants Anthony Davis’ medicals before the injury returns

on tuesday, Dallas Mavericks finally spelled i fired CEO Nick Harrison after nearly a year of fan clamor. Harrison, of course, became a basketball supervillain when he traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package focused on about Anthony Daviswho is currently out of the squad due to injury.

The latest update on Davis’ potential return to the lineup was released recently, and it is it was not necessarily positive.

“Sources: Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont requested medical data indicating Anthony Davis is not in danger of aggravating his left calf strain before giving the go-ahead for the 10-time All-Star’s return. He will miss a seventh straight game tonight,” ESPN NBA insider Tim McMahon reported on X, earlier on Twitter.

Many have speculated that the Mavericks could look to trade Davis now that Harrison is out of the picture, in hopes of getting some future assets to pair with No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg.

Harrison’s vision of pairing Davis with Kyrie Irving has been an abject failure, as the future Hall of Fame duo have played a total of one game so far and Irving is currently sidelined with an ACL injury suffered in March of last season.

At this point, it remains to be seen what a potential Davis trade might look like, given the star’s age and the unreliability of his health. Currently, the team is 3-8, and while Flagg has had a generally good start to his career, Dallas’ offense still ranks among the worst in the league this early in the season.

Either way, the Mavericks will next take the floor on Wednesday night at home against the Phoenix Suns.
