Paul George assures Philly that he can match the Knicks as the East

The Philadelphia 76ers They are coming off an impressive 139-122 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, and this was a pretty satisfying way to redeem themselves after losing to the Charlotte Hornets by 37 points a few days ago. In particular, Paul George is back in the lineup with a vengeance. He scored 32 points on nine 3-pointers, leading the 76ers to victory over the plucky Bucks with an incredible third-quarter surge.

The 76ers are brimming with confidence, and with George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey getting into a groove as a trio, Philly can become impossible to stop on any given night. And given the ceiling of this team, they rightfully feel this confident. Actually, George believes that The 76ers are in the same league as the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers in terms of Eastern Conference contenders.

“Absolutely. I think we’re right with the New York Knicks, with the Clevelands (of the world). I think we’re right in the mix,” George said, per Kai Carlin of USA Today’s Seekers Wire.

The 76ers need to tighten up their defense and need to be healthy come playoff time to make some noise. But they obviously have the talent to do it, it’s just a matter of playing their best basketball at the perfect time.

When the 76ers’ power forwards are firing on all cylinders, it becomes ridiculously difficult to stop them. They were Tyrese McKay’s show for most of the season, but Makei took the back seat George and Embiid on Tuesday, with the two veterans combining for 61 points.

Jared McCain also found his groove, as he scored 17 points and caught fire in the fourth quarter, drilling five total 3-pointers on the night to give the 76ers the scoring they needed off the bench.
