Paul George responds to form concerns after Wizards game

Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George doesn’t hide from reality of his slow start. Following the 76ers’ win over the Washington Wizards, the veteran power forward opened up about his form, fitness and recent struggles, offering an honest assessment of where he stands just seven games into the season.
George finished with a solid performance against Washington, including a strong shooting night from deep, going 3-of-5 from three-point range, a noticeable uptick after an uneven stretch to open the season.
Through his first six games, George connected on just 35.3% from beyond the arc, a number below his usual efficiency and one that added questions about rhythm and readiness.
however, despite signs of progressGeorge admitted that he is far from where he wants to be. “It’s getting there,” George said multiple times after the game when asked about his shot. “I just have to get my legs under me, get a little stronger. I just feel like my legs aren’t as strong as they should be.”
The 35-year-old admitted that fatigue played a role in the inconsistency. “I feel a little bit like I’m training my legs in camp,” he continued. “The first few games, I was just getting my legs and everything. But I don’t know, I was just a little tired for some reason.”
The Sixers are still figuring out their new dynamic with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Makey, and George finally shares the floorand early indications are that there is chemistry to be built and roles to be defined.
While shooting dips happen, George’s stamina remains the main story. With his recent injury history, teams and analysts are watching closely, especially as Philadelphia is making long-term battle plans with him next to Embiid and Maxey.
For now, though, the Sixers are encouraged.
George is on the rise, his confidence seems intact, and Tuesday night’s performance hinted that an All-Star version of Paul George may not be far off.
If his conditioning reaches skill level and his rhythm fully returns, the Sixers could soon see the elite two-way force they expected when they brought him to Philly.
