Paul Pierce believes in “championship caliber” San Antonio
The San Antonio Spurs will enter Christmas at 22-7, good for second in the Western Conference. With a the battle with Grom on tap, some have speculated about how good this team really is. Paul Pierce appeared recently on the No Offense podcast and stated that he believed it Victor VembanyamaDe’Aaron Fox and the Spurs are a championship-caliber team
Pierce said his eyes tell him that coach Mitch Johnson has learned everything from former coach Gregg Popovich and applied it. Johnson then took over as head coach of the Spurs Popović resigned due to health problems last season. At the time, the Spurs were still rebuilding and didn’t look anywhere near a championship team.

Although the Spurs will likely have to go through the Thunder, Pierce believes they are ready, and his assessment could prove correct by the end of the season.
