Pavia compares KB target to Mahomes

Fresh historical performance in The Vanderbilt Commodores are dominant in a 45-17 victory over Kentuckytheir chief general, Diego Pavia, made it clear that his attention was not only on the present.

After breaking the program’s single-game passing recordPavia used his postgame spotlight to publicly support the Commodores’ push to flip five-star quarterback Jared Curtis from Georgia.

Curtis, a Nashville Christian standout and one of the nation’s top signal callers in the 2025 class, he has been heavily talked about as a potential target for Vanderbilt in recent weeks.

As National Signing Day approaches on Dec. 4, the Commodores’ pursuit has intensified, especially with Curtis after taking an official visit to campus recently. Pavia even reportedly stepped into the role of mentor, hoping to influence the local star’s decision. When asked about Vanderbilt’s efforts to bring Curtis home, Pavia he did not hold back in his praise.

“I think Jared (Curtis) is the next big thing here, so I hope to keep him here in Nashville. I think he’s a talent. When I watched him, his arm is crazy. He reminds me of (Patrick) Mahomes and stuff,” Pavia said.

The comparisons underscore how strongly Pavia believes Vanderbilt’s future could be shaped by adding Curtis to the roster. And given how the current star played against Kentucky, racking up 496 total yards and six total touchdowns, his endorsement carries weight.

Meanwhile, the larger context surrounding Curtis makes the situation even more compelling. Georgia remains confident it can keep the five-star quarterback in its class, but the ongoing hustle, growing relationship with Pavia and his roots in Nashville have fueled speculation that a turnaround is possible.

As the regular season winds down and Vanderbilt prepares for a strong SEC matchup against Tennessee, with potential implications for the College Football Playoffthe momentum of the program is undeniable, with Pavia is creating a lot of buzz in the Heisman conversation.

And as signing day approaches, all eyes will remain on Jared Curtis and whether Pavia’s belief, Vanderbilt’s pressure and hometown connection are enough to spark one of the biggest recruiting turnarounds of the cycle.
