Pelicans extend Jordan Hawkins and Yves Mission through 2027
As did the Spurs with Castle Stephon and Victor VembanyamaThe Pelicans have activated options on their rookie contracts Jordan Hawkins etc Ives Missy. The former NCAA champion and the Cameroon pivot therefore have guaranteed contracts until 2027.
Picked 14th overall in the 2023 draft, Jordan Hawkins was coming off a stellar varsity season at UConn, highlighted by this varsity title along with Andre Jackson Jr. In his second NBA season, he played 56 games, including 9 starts, and took advantage of his franchise’s misfortunes to approach an 11-point average.
For his part, Yves Misi, the 21st pick in the 2024 draft, looked like a steal last season, approaching a double-double with 9.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. A surprise starter for his first season, he was in competition with Kevon Looney to keep his spot.
But a recent injury former Warriors center will allow him to start the regular season in the starting five, and many are waiting to see his deal with Zion Williamson. “I feel quite comfortable,” he confided during the media day. “Going into my second year, I should be better than last year. I’m more confident than ever.”
