Pete Carroll on Brock Bowers gets just 3 targets against the Broncos

The Las Vegas Raiders were better at one thing against the Denver Broncos on Thursday: they were bad on offense.

The Broncos had a terrible performance on offense at Empower Field in Mile High, but the Raiders fared even worse, losing, 10-7, in a ho-hum contest.

Las Vegas suffered its third straight loss and fell to 2-7. Denver, on the other hand, won its seventh straight and improved to a league-leading 8-2 record.

The Broncos defense bothered the Raiders all gameincluding going scoreless in the final three quarters. Geno Smith was sacked six times on the season. Brock Bowersmeanwhile, he was targeted only three times.

Raiders coach Pete Carroll deserving Broncos for their proper coverage against Bowers.

“We tried. We tried all night. The calls were going that way and the ball just wasn’t coming. We weren’t trying to cover it and not go there. We had one call after another. They (Broncos) did a good job of getting guys to him,” Carroll said in a video posted by Raiders reporter Jesse Merrick.

The 22-year-old tight end, selected 13th overall by Las Vegas last year, had just one reception for 31 yards. He had one carry and was tackled for a loss of four yards.

Bowers has missed three games this season with a knee injury. In six appearances, he recorded 32 receptions for 383 and three touchdowns.

Last season, the former Georgia standout had 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns and was named to the All-Pro first team.

Carroll will need to find more moves for Bowers, especially after Jacoby Meyers was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
