Pete Crowe-Armstrong, Carson Kelly share a hilarious moment

Although they are at different stages of their MLB careers, Pete Crowe-Armstrong and Carson Kelly both enjoyed it breakthrough campaigns in 2025. The Chicago Cubs teammates made drastic improvements on offense and helped the franchise end a four-year playoff drought. Sharing a clubhouse during a memorable season can create quite the bond. Their blossoming friendship was on display on Saturday spring training game against the Texas Rangers.
During an interview with Marquee Sports Network’s Taylor McGregor, the Gold Glove center fielder and veteran catcher were asked to name their favorite things about each other. They enlightened and entertained Cubs fan.
“I love Carson’s dry sense of humor, and I love his jackets that he wears every day on the field, like sweat suits,” Crowe-Armstrong said. “It’s a little different than anything I’ve ever seen before.” The uniquely dressed footballer took a different approach with his answer.
“I’m trying to look like Pete,” Kelly joked. “I want to be like Pete. When I grow up, I want to be like Pete.” Crowe-Armstrong wasn’t buying it. “This seems like it’s just for the camera,” he told McGregor. “This is not usually how it goes.”

Spring training has just started, but they’re going back and forth like it’s halfway through the season. While it’s obviously important to have an abundance of talent, especially in a stacked National League, the value of good vibes can’t be overlooked. Despite the almost eight-year age difference, these two guys continue as brothers.
Both are looking to build on the fluctuating success they achieved in 2025. Pete Crowe-Armstrong had a fantastic first half of the season and finished ninth in the National League MVP race. He struggled mightily in the final two months of the campaign, but still posted 31 home runs, 95 RBI, a .481 slugging percentage and a .768 OPS. 23 year old spent a lot of time working on his swing during the offseason and is trying to shorten his stride again in 2026.
If Crowe-Armstrong can maintain this approach throughout the season, then he could cement himself as the new face of Cubs baseball. Kelly’s goals are a little different. After spending most of his career as a backup catcher, the 2012 second-round draft pick is focused on securing a greater role for himself on this squad. He hit .249 with 17 home runs and a .761 OPS in 111 games last year.
While it will be difficult to replicate that kind of production, the Chicago native can still find ways to contribute to a winning club. That includes maintaining a good mood during early spring training. Fans should keep an eye on this duo, both in the batter’s box and in the Cubs dugout.
