Peyton Watson and the Nuggets take on the Celtics at TD Garden!
THE Nuggets have resources! Deprived of Nikola Jokić’s injury against the Heat, David Adelman’s players just finished the “trip” on a doubly good note. First in Philadelphia, then last night in Boston (114-110), which still remained at five wins…
The match was balanced for a very long time, with a duo Jaylen Brown – Derrick White who takes care of everything on the start of the game for the Celtics, but Jamaal Murray makes sure to put his teammates in position, and Peyton Watson is safe. The two teams do not abandon each other and are even tied at halftime (58-58).
The beginning of the third quarter was complicated for both offensive teams, every basket was difficult to score, and the Nuggets did not look far from shooting.
They just held on and even went 14-0 in the last quarter to take control of the match! Jamal Murray is a monstrous read for punishing Boston’s assists and defensive expectations, while Peyton Watson frustrates Jaylen Brown, offensively and defensively, as Denver pulls away.
The Celtics, however, are not giving up, and Peyton Pritchard is hanging on until the end. Only it’s too late and the Nuggets end their road trip with a big win at the TD Garden!
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The right trigger for Peyton Watson? Interesting sequences since his arrival in the NBA, has Peyton Watson used the misfortunes of the Nuggets to take a step forward? Already very good since the start of the “journey”, he put the icing on the cake last night, with 30 points on 10/15, including 6/7 from long range. Above all, he was very active on defense, especially because of Jaylen Brown’s three turnovers in the last quarter.
– Jamal Murray in pass mode. The leader of the Nuggets set a career record in assists with 16 assists a few days ago against Brooklyn. He did even better last night with 17 assists against the Celtics, dissecting opposing defenses to serve up Peyton Watson, Zeke Nnaji and company!
– The rebounding battle wasn’t enough for Boston. Neemias Cueta’s 20 rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds, helped the Celtics win the floor battle by a wide margin (53 possessions to 39). Enough to offer a big second-chance points deficit (27 to 16), but ultimately not enough to win.
