Players of the Week | Peyton Watson’s big premiere
The NBA just revealed its “Players of the Week” for Week 12 of the season. And it is Peyton Watson who takes the prize in the West, doc Scottie Barnes is honored in the East.
As for the Nuggets, Peyton Watson used a particularly rich stint in Denver to gain momentum and lead a severely weakened team to a surprising 3-1 record. During that span, the winger averaged 24.5 points and 8.0 rebounds, along with a terrifying outside skill: 70% from 3-point range!
In the East, Scotty Barnes is asserting his role as the boss in Toronto: The Raptors have also won three of four games this week, with their winger averaging 22.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists. This is the second “Player of the Week” trophy of his career, while Peyton Watson’s big first.
Note that other nominees included Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, Danny Avdia or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the West, as well as Jaylen Brunson, Joel Embiid or Darius Garland in the East.
