Porter Jr dishes on connection to NBA gambling scandal

The 2025 NBA basketball season began with a huge betting scandal that almost completely overshadowed everything that happened on the court. The FBI uncovered a huge betting scandal it included rigged prop betting games as well as rigged poker games, all run and orchestrated by the mob. Terry Rozier is the only active player arrested, but there may be some connection to Jontay Porter.

Jontay Porter’s brother, Michael Porter Jr., was on the “Ball in the Family Podcast with Lonzo & Gelo Ball” to talk about various things, and the gambling scandal started because of his brother. He said he doesn’t know everything that happened and is waiting for everything to come to light. He said that his brother was threatened and that he had a podcast ready to tell his side, but he can’t release it yet.

Porter Jr. responded, “It was wild. It was kind of my brother’s situation. I don’t even know everything about the situation yet, but they said these are the same people, these people that he was involved with. That’s what my brother was involved with, but they were like threatening my brother. It was some real crazy stuff and it’s still unraveling. So my brother can’t go through with it, but he doesn’t even publish my podcast, but I don’t even publish until my brother publishes all of that.” the crazy situation is still going on.”

Porter Jr. isn’t a gambler himself, but the fact that it affected his brother leads him to witness what happened. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a federal criminal case it earned him a lifetime ban from the NBA.

The investigation into basketball betting and potential game-fixing is ongoing, so the podcast Porter Jr. did with his brother can’t be released right now, but it’s recorded and ready to go. Porter Jr. described it as a “three-hour therapy session.”

“It came up on my podcast recently. We haven’t released it yet. We’re not able to release anything right now. But we sat down for three hours,” Porter also told NI Post.

“It was like therapy for us because as brothers, it was the first time we sat down and really had a full conversation about what really happened, he was super honest and transparent about the whole thing. And it was great.”
