Porter Jr. in the Clippers trade, he could find himself in injury trouble

The NBA trade deadline is coming, and with it various trade rumors. One of the biggest is going around Michael Porter Jr. and where he might end up. The big rumor is that the Los Angeles Clippers are interested in him. However, one thing that could prevent the Clippers from making a move is Porter Jr.’s injury history. dating back to college.
In the latest episode of Clutch Scoops, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel and Tomer Azarly talked about how, as much as the Clippers would love to make a trade, they are scared due to Porter Jr.’s injury history. There is history with him and the Clippers, but it might be too much to overcome.
Siegel said, “One team I keep hearing about is the Clippers. And I know you’ve talked about them before and the different directions they could go. Could you see them potentially using some of those guys in the final year of their contract for Michael Porter Jr.? Because it looks like Steve Ballmer and Lawrence Frank still want to make an all-in move.”
Despite Siegel saying he kept hearing the Clippers were interested in Porter Jr., Azarly wasn’t sure how much he bought him.
Azarly said, “I think there’s a history between Michael Porter Jr. and the Clippers. I know their doctors were the ones who wrote that they would never draft him, and he probably wouldn’t have a long NBA career, so he took that personally, I believe.”
“I don’t know that I could see that happening, Azarly continued. “I think the Clippers have been pretty adamant about his back injuries, and I still think they want to keep as much flexibility as possible both this offseason and the 2027 offseason.
Porter Jr. had three back surgeries during his basketball career. However, he has repeatedly said that he wants to continue playing, even after they trade from the Denver Nuggets to the Brooklyn Nets.
