Portland is riding a historic 2-game wild swing

The Portland Trail Blazers entered Sunday needing to erase the previous defensive debacle. They were watching The Denver Nuggets have accumulated an incredible 157 points. That meant Portland had less than 48 hours to quickly fix its defense against the Phoenix Suns.

The Blazers made rare NBA history in a 92-77 loss on Sunday.

According to OptaSTATS, here is the defensive achievement Portland scored.

“They are the first team in NBA history to go up 80 or more points in defense from game to game,” posted an account on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter.

Toumani Camara performed the sequence it shines a light on Portland’s defensive strength in the desert: blocking a shot and then turning it into a dunk.

Kamara’s block went up as one of an incredible 11 shots from Portland’s side. But he wasn’t even considered the most dominant defender.

Donavan Clingan took that title – blocking four attempts by the Suns to lead the way. Whit Krejci and Robert Williams III combined for a pair of blocks apiece. Scoot Henderson and Jerami Grant also added a block for the Blazers.

Klingan finished with 23 points and collected 13 rebounds for a double-double. Kamara achieved his double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds).

Grant matched Clingan with 23 points to help lead the way, while Henderson reached double figures with 11. Portland held Phoenix to 36.5 percent shooting from the field, including 25.7 percent from three. While the Blazers committed 21 turnovers, the Suns lost the basketball 19 times.
