Prince Timberwolves Court of Recognition 2025-26 jerseys going so hard

The Minnesota Timberwolves are paying homage to music icon Prince by bringing back the iconic City Edition uniforms.
The purple jersey was made in cooperation with Nick and the late icon’s estate. There are several Prince references on the jerseys, including the number “7” representing his love symbol and the song on the album, a shoulder design that refers to Prince’s Purple Rain jacket worn during his iconic performance, a paisley detail on the left short opening in honor of Prince’s creative haven, and the “MPLS” acronym embedded in the Minneapolis image.
The first time the Timberwolves wore Prince-themed jerseys was in 2018, two years after his death. Prince died in 2016 accidental fentanyl overdose.
“Prince was a genius, an innovator and a proud Minnesotan,” said L. Londell McMillan, Prince’s longtime attorney and representative of the Prince’s estate. “This collaboration with the Timberwolves not only honors his music, but also his love of basketball, his hometown and his dedication to creativity and community. Seeing this uniform return is a powerful reminder of his lasting impact on the Twin Cities and his connection to a new generation of fans.”
“Bringing back this uniform was an easy decision for our organization,” added Timberwolves CEO Matt Caldwell. “This jersey is a celebration of who we are as a team, a city and a culture. Prince was a huge Wolves and Lynx fan and a symbol of excellence. We are proud to honor his legacy in a way that brings fans together and lights up the season in purple.”
In addition to the jerseys, the team also showed off a Prince-themed pitch at the Target Center.

The Timberwolves will debut their jerseys on November 15 when they face the Denver Nuggets. They will wear the jersey seven times during the season, but it is unclear whether they will be spread throughout the season or in seven games after the November 15 debut. The Timberwolves want fans to be involved, too, and will continue to honor the musical icon with several themed nights.
The kits are not yet on sale to fans, but Wolves say they will be available “in the coming weeks”.
