Puka Natsu says a “moment of frustration” sparked a viral tweet about referees

Right after Los Angeles Rams‘ stunning loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Puka Natsua doubled down on his criticism of NFL referees. In a post-deleted post, he wrote a third time: “Can you tell I’m wrong. Thank you stripes for your input. Lol.”

However, at the post-match press conference, Natsua explained what led to viral tweet. “Just a moment of frustration after such a tough, intense game,” he said, per The Sporting Tribune’s Arash Markazi. “Just thinking about the opportunities I could have done better to take it out of (the official’s) hands.

Natsu initially pissed off the judges in a controversial live performance during which he called the officials “the worst” and claimed they “wanted to be on TV”. During that same flow, Natsu also said that concussions are not real. And he did what was considered anti-Semitic dance for which he has since apologized.

Pressed on his initial comments about the referees during the live broadcast, Natsua added: “(It was) just a lack of awareness and just some frustration. I know there are times where I feel like, man, you watch other games and you think about the calls that some guys get and you wish you could get some of them. But that’s just the way football is played. And I’m going to work on my call technique.”

Sean McVay promised to convert Natsu’s latest tweet. Siroki admitted the Rams coach was not happy with his initial comments. “He’s just disappointed in some of the actions that have hindered my teammates. That’s something I know I’ll learn from. I don’t want to be a distraction any week – especially a short week. So we’ve talked about it and he’s right behind me,” Nacua said.

The Rams lost control of the NFC West in Thursday night’s loss. The Seahawks came back in the fourth quarter to win in overtime with a two-point conversion.

For his part, Natsu was sensational against the Seahawks. He had 12 receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort. Naku passed Odell Beckham Jr for fifth in receptions in a player’s first three seasons.

The Rams will try to bounce back against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.
