Rams want rule change after Seahawks 2-point conversion

The Los Angeles Rams suffered several losses during the 2025 NFL season. One of them came in Week 16 when The Rams lost an overtime thriller to the Seahawks on Thursday night football. That game included one of the craziest two point conversions in NFL history, which played a big role in the outcome of the game. Los Angeles is looking for ways to prevent that from happening again.

The Rams plan to propose a rule change that would make the result of that controversial play a failed two-point conversion attempt, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. Jones also suggested that there might be another proposal to “focus certain details around that play.”

There are currently no details on the specifics of what that change would look like.

NFL teams submit proposed rules each year at the start of the new league year. Jones noted that many of those suggestions come around the NFL scouting combine. It even starts on February 23rd.

Let’s go back to the play in question.

Seattle and Los Angeles played a Week 16 matchup with big ramifications in Thursday Night Football. A win for either team would put them in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.

The Seahawks scored a touchdown to make it 30-28 with just over six minutes left in the game. Seattle attempted the two-point conversion hoping to tie the game.

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold threw a horizontal pass targeting running back Zach Charbonnet. But Rams running back Jared Verse got in the way, deflecting the ball behind the line of scrimmage.

Most of the players on the field thought it was an incomplete pass and abandoned the play. Charbonnet nonchalantly picked up the ball in the end zone, which was later reviewed and called an end zone recovery for the successful conversion.

Seattle won the game and secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. That became the key to getting to Super Bowl 60.

One possibility is that the Rams suggest, in such a situation, the offense could not improve.

Either way, Los Angeles isn’t letting that game go down without a fight.
