Ranking Coby White’s top five trade destinations if the Bulls finally decide to pull the trigger at the 2026 deadline.

The NBA trade deadline February 5th is fast approaching. One of the players who was floated as a potential trade target is Chicago Bulls guard Coby White.

This year, White is completing the final year of his three-year, $36 million contract signed with Chicago in 2023. Until now, White has been battling calf injuries that separated him at the beginning of the year and only in December.

In total, White played 17 games and averaged 18.4 points and 4.6 assists.

White, 25, has been in Chicago since entering the league in 2019 out of the University of North Carolina. During this period, he made a name for himself as a dynamic scorer and effective playmaker. Two qualities that would be endearing to any team looking for players of that caliber.

With the Bulls failing to reach the playoffs during White’s tenure, he was effectively guaranteed to go to a team with potential. He has plenty of years ahead of him and the talent to back it up. Also, White would likely demand a higher salary, and the Bulls won’t be in a position to blow the salary cap out of the water.

This is especially true after them signed Josh Giddy to a four-year, $100 million contract last summer.

So, in the big picture, it would be it makes sense for White to go elsewhere. Fortunately for him, there are at least eight teams that would be ideal landing spots.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, numerous teams have expressed apparent interest in the pursuit White before the trade deadline. Here are four potential worthy buyers.

The top four teams that would suit Kobe White

Minnesota Timberwolves: The most frequently mentioned team was the Timberwolves. A team that has been in the playoffs since 2021, including two recent appearances in the Western Conference Finals. The possibility was first reported by Joe Coveli of the Chicago Sun-Times in December.

In short, the Timberwolves struggled with inconsistency at one spot. Mike Conley has seen his numbers and overall productivity drop, and rookie Rob Dillingham hasn’t had a consistent performance. To complement a backcourt led by Anthony Edwards, White could fit nicely into that mix.

In the process, Covelli reported that the Bulls could receive Chicago commit and Minnesota guard Terrence Shannon Jr., guard Donte DiVincenzo and several draft picks. Thus, he fits into Chicago’s current system of developing a younger team.

Dallas Mavericks: According to Will Miller of The Smoking Cuban, Mavericks are a legitimate player in the hunt for White. However, their first-round draft capital is limited by past moves, making acquiring White a challenge. However, if they were to work it out, it would be in their best interest.

White would fit naturally into a team dynamic that relies heavily on guard play, thanks to Cooper Flagg and a healthy Kyrie Irving. Not only that, but they would be part of an elite guard rotation that could return the Mavericks to prominence.

In return, the Bulls could get a chance to acquire Anthony Davis as their veteran.

Atlanta Hawks: After that The Hawks traded Trae Young to the Washington Wizardsthat might make room for white. Surely a white/young backcourt duo would be lively in Atlanta. However, it would still make sense for White to fill that gap in the guard position.

While the Hawks would have less of a chance of making the postseason than, say, the Timberwolves, there are still some upsides. White could cover the offensive production left by Young. Also, he could work well with players like Jaylen Johnson in the backfield. Then, on defense, which was his biggest weakness, White would have a helping hand in Deason Daniels.

Furthermore, against the Hawks, White is averaging 15.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Los Angeles Clippers: There’s no question the Clippers could use a boost; they could use many, but stick to one now. They have an older, injury-prone roster that includes Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.

The entry of white gives a certain amount of freshness and vitality. Additionally, his ability to stretch the floor can create opportunities for those two guys. Obviously, White just joining the Clippers isn’t going to make them a playoff team right off the bat.

But that would start to turn things around in the short term.
