Raptors’ interest in Domantas Sabonis overstated?
As the trade deadline approaches, the smokescreens multiply. Managers and agents play their part, and “insiders” often serve as a sounding board.
here, a few rumours thus resurfaced Domantas Sabonisit is possible to send to Toronto in exchange for RJ Barrett andBroken Black. Some rumors have even gone so far as to claim that it all depends on the draft pick: The Raptors would be willing to let go of the second round, but not the first.
Except that according to Michael Grange, the SportsnetToronto’s interest in the Kings’ Lithuanian pivot wouldn’t actually be that strong. The rumors would be of particular use to Arvidas’ son’s agents, eager to get him out of Sacramento.
With Jakob Poeltl’s injurythe connection really seems “logical” enough to lend credibility to the scenario. But credible does not mean probable, especially since the profile of Domantas Sabonis does not necessarily correspond to the construction of Darko Rajaković.
Certainly, his activity on the rebound and his quality as a creator in the high post would do the Raptors well. But his lack of intimidation in the circle and his limitations in defensive mobility are enough to be scary, especially for a team more interested in laying the foundation than tinkering with short-term moves.
