Reggie Miller calls Boston the Eastern Conference’s “scariest team” with or without Jayson Tatum

NBA on NBC analyst Reggie Miller he has the high potential of the Boston Celtics in the playoffs. In a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick ShowMiller praised the Celtics Jaylen Brown for reinforcement during Tatum’s absence and highlighted the team’s depth. He then went on to say that the Celtics are “the scariest team in the Eastern Conference,” even with Tatum on the sidelines.

“The Celtics are the most feared team in the Eastern Conference, and the reason is because there are no expectations because people thought this was going to be a gap year. Yeah. About Tatum and the way Jaylen Brown, he, his name should definitely be in the MVP discussion along with Cade Cunningham.”

He added: “With the Celtics, with or without Tatum back, the Celtics are a real threat to win the Easter Conference. . . . Coach Macula coaches them well. They’re deep. They can play different ways. They can play big, small, and I think Vucevic is low. They can play with this to get back to the basket. Take a lot of threes from 16 feet. Defensively, I’m just saying they’re at a high level in Detroit.

The Boston Celtics are currently second in the East behind the first-seeded Detroit Pistons. They have a two-game losing streak against the third-seeded New York Knicks. The Celtics emerged as one of the biggest stories of the season, as many NBA fans and prognosticators believed they would fail without Tatum in the lineup.

But Jailen Brown stepped up. He is averaging 29.2 points per game, 7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game with 1 steal. Brown also got help from Peyton Pritchard, who is averaging 17.6 points per game, and Derrick White, who is averaging 17 points per game. In addition, a sharpshooter like Sam Houser has become one of the best shooters in the league, shooting 39% from the three-point line. The Celtics recently acquired Nikola Vucevic, who is averaging 11 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. The Celtics travel to Phoenix to play the Suns tonight at 9:00 PM ET.
