Richard Jefferson Applauds Steve Kerr Haters Amid Cumming Strain

The The Golden State Warriors are in a tough spot. After losing Jimmy Butler to a a devastating ACL tear at the end of the season during Monday’s 135-112 win over the Miami Heat, the focus shifted squarely to the strained relationship between the head coach Steve Kerr and forward Jonathan Cumminga.

With Kuminga has lost 16 games in a row as a healthy scratch, frustrated fans turned their fire on Kerr. But the former NBA champion Richard Jefferson there is none of that. Speaking of Road Trippin’ ShowJefferson delivered a blunt reality check to those questioning the future Hall of Fame coach.

“Steve Kerr is one of the best coaches in the league,” Jefferson said. “A man has 10 championships. SHUT UP. If you think you know more than someone with 10 championships, as a player, played with MJ, played with Tim Duncan… we can’t talk.”

Tensions came to a head when Kuminga reportedly requested a trade on January 15. However, Butler’s injury forced a desperate turnaround. Before going down, Butler was a force to be reckoned with, with 17 points and 4 assists in just 21 minutes against his former team. His absence leaves a huge void Kerr admitted that Kuminga “could be” the one to fill.

Despite the bench, the Warriors showed their potential in the win over Miami. Stephen Curry had a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists, while Moses Moody added 13 points in a starting role.

Whether the 25-19 Warriors can mend fences with Cummings remains the biggest question in San Francisco. But for Jefferson, the credentials of a decision-maker are non-negotiable.
