Rick Pitino makes a wild NBA All-Star Game proposal

On Sunday night, The NBA All-Star festivities are over with the game itself, which really consisted of four 12-minute games as part of a round-robin tournament. The younger US team ended up winning the tournament, defeating a team filled with older US veterans as well as international players in the tournament, with Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards wins All-Star Game MVP award.
The NBA has changed the format of the All-Star Game several times over the last few years in an attempt to get some kind of competitive spirit out of the players, and the product seemed to be improved on Sunday compared to what we’ve seen before.
However, that didn’t stop the St. John’s head coach and basketball icon Rick Pitino from presenting another idea for the progress of events.
“It’s great to see a new format with an All-Star game. I suggested the NBA organize a Ryder Cup with basketball. Starting in Greece and then coming back to the United States. It would be amazing and even more popular than the Ryder Cup,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The NBA implementing its own version of the Ryder Cup in golf would certainly be a sight to behold and would continue the theme of American and international players that began this year.
For now, the league appears to be satisfied with what it saw from the players on Sunday night, as the game lived up to its billing and provided some entertainment for the fans in attendance at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
Now the league will move forward into a longer season, although Adam Silver and company still have a lot of questions on their hands, including the rise of artificial intelligence, gambling and many other factors that could have a major impact on the sport as we know it.
