Robert Thomas breaks his silence on trade rumors

The The St. Louis Blues are near the bottom of the NHL at this time. They are in the midst of the NHL’s Olympic break, so they have a chance to rest and reset. However, they are still the third worst team in the Western Conference. And that could cause some tough decisions involving players like Robert Thomas.
Thomas is one of the best players on the Blues’ roster. He is a 26-year-old center who has a history of scoring around a point per game. In addition, he is signed for a long term. All of this makes him a very intriguing trade candidate. And for the first time, Thomas talking about rumors about him.
“That’s part of it. We know where we are in the standings,” the forward said Friday, via NHL.com. “When you’re in this position, things like that happen. You just have to own it. I’m a big part of why we’re where we are. I know things like that will come and go. It’s been happening the last few years.”
A trade involving Thomas comes with major complications. The Blues striker has a full no-trade clause in his contract. As a result, he has full say over where he goes if St. Louis arranges trade. For now, though, it’s not something Thomas is willing to talk about.
“I don’t want to talk too much about it right now. We’ll talk about it later,” Thomas said of his no-trade clause, via NHL.com. “I have one. We’re kind of there.”
The Blues will return to the ice on February 26 when they play the Seattle Kraken.
