Russell Westbrook defiantly rejects retirement

The Sacramento Kings they have their veteran backup point guard now, as they recently signed Russell Westbrook a week before the start of the regular season. There were many questions surrounding Westbrook’s future in the league before he signed, and many still wonder what his career plans will be after this season.

Westbrook already is shut down all the rumours about his future, and has no plans to leave the game anytime soon, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

“New Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook says there are no plans to retire after his 18th season,” Haynes wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

There was even an opinion about it Westbrook would have interest overseasbut he still has a lot left in the tank and could help a team in the NBA. Last season, Westbrook was key to the Denver Nuggets coming off the bench and giving them the energy they needed. And the chemistry between him and Nikola Jokić was great and he had to start occasionally during the season.

Later in the season, rumors swirled that Westbrook was a problem in the Nuggets locker room, and his teammates immediately came to his defense, saying otherwise. Westbrook then opted out of his contract with the Nuggets at the end of the season, making him a free agent.

The Kings ended up being the team that looked like they could use Westbrook, and they should be set at the point guard position heading into the season. Dennis Schroder will most likely be the starter, and Westbrook the player who will set the tone from the bench.

It should be an interesting season for the Kings, as they have the talent to compete but are still in a loaded Western Conference.
