Russell Westbrook looked like he was loving life at the fan fest

Enough has been done, Fr 2017 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook is moving to the Sacramento Kings. After declining his player option with the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook signed a $3.63 million non-guaranteed free agent contract with the Kings.
However, as for the recent fan fest held at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Westbrook looked well and truly in his element. The beaming Russian was seen having the time of his life while wearing his new number 18 shirt in front of thousands of fans who gathered, according to video posted by Sean Cunningham of NBC Sacramento.
Russell Westbrook was all smiles during today’s Fan Fest, his first introduction to Sacramento since signing with the Kings just days ago. Open practice, some dunks, half court shots (won by Devin Carter) and lots of chemistry with the team and the fans. pic.twitter.com/PNAoaAkUHl

Westbrook was initially seen inserting Kings mascot Lion Slamson before greeting the rest of his teammates gathered in the arena. Russ was an equally excited member of the open practice that followed, participating in a mini dunk and half-court shooting contest. The last one was won by Devin Carter.
The 36-year-old even found time to greet fans. He was seen signing loads of memorabilia for the many young fans who approached him from the sidelines during the festival.
Westbrook’s fit alongside Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis and Malik Monk has already been questioned. Furthermore, his non-guaranteed contract means he will spend the first half of the season “proving himself”, otherwise he could be released mid-campaign.
The Kings will be the third NBA team Westbrook has played for since leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2023. The nine-time All-Star was constantly linked with a move away from the NBA before landing in Sacramento as a free agent. Nonetheless, Westbrook already has a proper legacy in the NBA, even though he has yet to win his first championship.
The NBA leader in triple-doubles and a member of the league’s 75th anniversary team, Westbrook averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game on .449/.323/.661 shooting last season.
