Russell Wilson brings up troubled past amid murky NFL outlook
The New York Giants announced that Jameis Winston would start in Week 11 with Jackson Dart on the sidelines. The Giants will go with Winston Russell Wilson against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The 10-time Pro Bowler struggled in three starts earlier this season before being replaced by Dart.
Wilson was asked if he he hopes to be a starter again in the NFL. “Yeah, I definitely want to be able to. And I definitely want to have that opportunity. I know what I’m capable of… I’m just looking forward to having the rest of a great day today. And I say that because that’s the way I’ve always been. In the midst of amazing moments, I’ve always been about the moment in this moment. And the hard times, right now. And that’s part of, really, S’s faith,” Gee said.
“My favorite verse is Matthew 6:33. That’s my life philosophy, I would say. ‘Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.’ “Verse 34 says, ‘Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has worries enough,'” Wilson added.
Russell Wilson reflects on the NFL future in the Giants’ losing season

“It really came from a time when I was in a tough spot trying to play football, am I playing baseball? My dad was dying, there was a lot going on. I didn’t know what to choose. I didn’t know what to do. I had two gifts in my hand, all these great things were happening to me, but I also had this hard decision about life and what to do, Wison.”
The veteran passer signed a one-year deal with the Giants in March. He opened the 2025 season as the starting quarterback. But after three straight losses, New York turned to first-round draft pick Jackson Dart.
Wilson has seen sporadic action since losing the KB1 job, filling in under center when Dart was kicked out. Appeared in New York’s Week 10 blowout against the Chicago Bears. After losing, The Giants fired Brian Dabollpromoting Mike Kafka to interim head coach. And Wilson was demoted to third string, as New York gave Winston the nod for Week 11.
