Russell Wilson reflects on Steelers future after loss to Ravens

How the fans will remember Russell Wilson’s tenure in Pittsburgh in 2024?

After suffering a calf injury that sidelined him until October, Wilson played very good football, some not-so-good football, and almost everything in between, limping into the playoffs on a four-game losing streak. From there, Wilson played pretty well for the Steelers in the playoffs, completing 20 of his 29 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns, but his rushing attack mustered just 29 yards on 11 carries, and ultimately, the Ravens’ dominant rushing defense . proved too much for the Steelers’ D.

Was this the last time fans saw Wilson in a Steelers uniform? Or has the team and their front office seen enough of the Seattle Seahawks legend to lock him up for the long haul, even if their head coaching situation is only up in the air? Speaking about his immediate reaction to the game and how he felt about it during the postgame press conference, Wilson noted that he had “one of his best years” in Pittsburgh and would welcome a return to the team.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers organization, man. It was a great blessing to be here. The guys we have, the organization, it’s really first class. “Obviously, we love the city and what it means, not only to me and Ciara and our family, but to the National Football League,” Wilson told reporters, via Bleacher Report.

“It’s a special place, with special guys.” We have a special coach in Coach Tomlin. We have a special organization, special people, special players, special fan base. It has truly been a blessing in my life. It was one of the best years for me personally to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. Obviously, I hope I’m here, and everything. I trust God, whatever that is.”

Of course, is this just Wilson saying what the fans want to hear, something his teammates do George Pickens could learn a thing or two from that? Maybe yes, maybe no, but in the end, Wilson just wanted to give credit to his teammates, because they all fought together, and that’s all he could really ask for.

“I think any time you’re looking for something that we’re looking for, to win another Super Bowl here and everything, there’s always ups and downs. “I think more importantly, I believe in the guys that we have,” Wilson said.

“The best part of the game was that the boys didn’t give up.” I think it’s, in the National Football League, guys check out sometimes. And they didn’t. We didn’t. We did our best, we kept fighting, we kept swinging. That’s why I love the guys on this team.”

Will Wilson be back with the Steelers in 2025. Will they give him the contract they believe he deserves, something at least 30 times what he was making in 2024? Or the Wilson camp will find another team that gives him a better chance of winning and leave town for Justin Fields or some other option entirely? Fans will soon find out.
