Rusty Paul George, but happy to be back
It was Paul George’s last match last March 4. It’s been more than eight months since we last saw the Sixers winger on the floor. He signed his return against his former team, the Clippers, with a logically shy return: 9 points and 7 rebounds in 21 minutes.
The important thing is obviously not in his statistics, nor in his clumsiness (2/9 on the shot), but in his sensations and the feeling that he has reached the end of the obstacle course.
“I feel good. It feels good to finally be playing basketball again. It’s been eight months, so it’s been a long time. There’s been ups and downs, a lot of downs. But I’m finally here and I feel good. I’m rusty, but I feel good”, thus indicating a winger.
Limited playing time
It didn’t take long for Paul George to get into the game, scoring the first shot after about thirty seconds. “It feels good”he smiles. “There were so many emotions in me. It wasn’t out, I tried to stay in the match, concentrated. It was very nice to score that first shot.”
From now on, “PG” will have to step up and play a series of matches, without relapsing if possible, while accepting that he has limited playing time at the moment.
“There’s a balance between letting the game come to you and pushing some cardio and fitness, but before you know it, you’re in for five minutes and you’ve got to get out. So, I tried to make the most of those five minutes per quarter.” confides the former Pacers and Thunder.
