Ryan Nembhardt gets 100% real on the rookie relationship with Cooper Flagg

The Dallas Mavericks have started to hit their stride lately, currently 8-15 after a home win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. That game was preceded by an impressive road win over the Denver Nuggets, a game in which the undrafted rookie Ryan Nembhard asked 28 points and ten assists, i fellow rookie Cooper Flagg poured 24 of his own.

Recently, Nembhard became 100% honest about the new relationship he and Flagg share.

“I think we’re both just young guys experiencing the league, and we’ve both been dreaming for a long time, and experiencing it and going through it together, so we have a lot of things to bounce ideas off of each other, and we just like to joke around and have fun, so it’s been really fun,” Nembhardt, formerly of the Mavericks, said on X.

Nembhard is the younger brother of Andrew Nembhard, who nearly helped lead the Indiana Pacers to an NBA Finals victory a season ago, and looks like one of the big steals in last year’s undrafted class.

In the meantime, Flagg continues to elevate his game on a seemingly nightly basis, and if his threes start to fall with a little more consistency, he could enter the conversation as one of the best rookies the NBA has seen in the last decade and more.

The Mavericks also recently returned Anthony Davis from injury, which no doubt helped them pick up some wins over the past week, and it shouldn’t be long before Kyrie Irving returns to the lineup as well, at which point Dallas can start looking like a legitimate playoff threat outside of the West.

The only question will be whether the hole they’ve already dug themselves at this point in the season will be too deep to overcome later on.
