Ryan Rollins messed up, Bucks without a solution
On the side of Milwaukee, in the last three matches, everything was played sans Giannis Antetokounmpo currently packed, Ryan Rollins he clearly has the keys to the truck. So much so that he averaged 26.7 points during this stretch, on 23 attempts per game.
From then on, opponents know it one of the surprises of this first month of competition they must be specifically targeted. The Blazers employed this strategy, limiting the point guard to 10 points on 4/14 shooting with 4 turnovers.
“They just put pressure on him, and that was predictable because we’re in a league where everybody copies everybody.”, analyzes Doc Rivers. “After the game against the Pistons, I told my assistants that in the next games Ryan will be put in twos, that he will be under a lot of pressure. Because our opponents know that we don’t have many ball carriers like him.”
More blows but also more pressure
With their engine seized by Toumani Kamara and other Blazers, the Bucks were limited to just 103 points, one of the worst results of their season. If Ryan Rollins can’t find the paint, Milwaukee’s offense can’t hope for much. The pressure and responsibility are mounting for the former Warriors.
“It’s quite an adjustment. It’s harder for me to get the ball, to be in rhythm in certain situations, which slows down our offense.”the player notes. “We find ourselves playing at the end of the possession and it has a lump effect. I have to get the ball better and set up our systems.”
With a five-game losing streak, it’s an understatement to say that the Wisconsin franchise is anxiously awaiting the return of Giannis Antetokounmpo to get back to winning ways.
“It’s the NBA. I’ve learned, rookie, that no one will feel sorry for you,” Bobby Portis recalls. “You have to keep doing things every day, not change the routine, you have to maintain it. You have to keep the same energy and eventually things will turn around. Not because it’s not working right now, it’s not going to work in the future and we can’t have a five or six game streak.”
