Ryan Tannehill reveals the biggest solution for Cam Ward

For all quarterbacks Cam Wardpotential, nothing went right for the 2025 Tennessee Titans. Former franchise quarterback Ryan Tannehill has an idea how to solve the problem.
Tannehill went 39-24 during his five-year tenure with the Titans. Ward went 1-8 in the first nine games. But it’s not all about the quarterback. Tannehill believes in Tennessee must improve in the trenches to achieve success, via DJ Siddiqui of the Escapist group.
“It’s been tough, definitely in rebuilding mode,” says Tannehill of the Titans. “I think it starts up front, it starts in the churches, the offensive line and the defensive line. They gave up a lot of sacks. I saw him on pace for the highest sack yardage record on the year. Not a stat you want to put up as a quarterback.”
Ward was sacked a league-high 38 times for 295 yards, Siddiqui notes. It’s hard for a quarterback to make any plays if he spends half the game on his back.
The rookie’s stats reflect the Titans’ overall offensive struggles. He threw for 1,760 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. Ward ranks 33rd overall in passer rating with a 72.1 rating.
Still, Tannehill has faith in the Titans quarterback. He knows that the intangibles are there. Ward just needs some structure in place.
“I think he’s talented,” says Tannehill of Ward. “He’s showing that talent. I’ve been watching some plays. I’m like, ‘OK, I see something here and I really like what he’s doing.’ And then you know, some other things are just rookie mistakes. Hopefully these mistakes and these negative things are opportunities for him to grow and he can really learn from them as they go forward. Hopefully the organization will do a better job of putting some pieces around him that put him in a position to succeed. But I don’t think he was in a really great position to go out and play well.”
Tannehill will surely have his eyes on Ward when the Titans take on the Houston Texans.
