Sacramento savage trolls LeBron James after botching jersey debut

LeBron James‘ longevity is unmatched, especially in professional basketball. The fact that he remains this productive on the hardwood is simply astounding. And with Los Angeles Lakers The star’s career is about to end, the NBA partnered with Topps to have James wear a special season 23 jersey patch for each game to commemorate how he is the only player in NBA history to reach that many seasons in the league.

However, the beginning of James’ life with the special patch on his jersey for the 23rd season was not exactly ideal. The Lakers ended up falling to the 14th place team in the West Sacramento Kings124-112, as LA couldn’t stop Sacramento from pouring buckets.

The Kings have been having fun on social media lately, most recently trolling Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets for simulating the beam lighting that Sacramento celebrated during the 2022-23 season. They gave James similar treatment, trolling him for the loss in his debut, similar to how he lost his career debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 30, 2003.

“Bad day for a jersey debut 🙂‍↔,” the Kings posted on their official X account.

James didn’t have a bad night, though he didn’t fill the stat line like he usually has so far in January (he finished with 22 points, three rebounds and four assists on the night). But he and the Lakers couldn’t guard anyone from the Kings; Sacramento shot 58.4 percent from the field and 65.4 percent from beyond the arc, taking advantage of LA’s disorganized defense.

Malik Monk had a little vendetta against his former team; gave up 26 points on 9-15 shooting from the field and 7-9 from deep to justify a bigger role for the Kings.
