Sam Darnold acknowledges the harsh reality of potential player status

The The Seattle Seahawks managed to relax while the rest of the NFC struggled in the Wild Card round last week, but now it’s time to get down to business. Now they have the San Francisco 49ers on their schedule, and just when you thought they were going to enter the game healthy, one of their key players appears on the injury report.

Sam Darnold is dealing with an oblique injurybut fortunately for the Seahawks, he will not be missed a Divisional Round match against a divisional opponent.

“Sam Darnold told reporters after practice that he felt something in his side while throwing in the air. Asked what percentage he might not play: ‘Very low percentage. Closer to zero,'” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

It looks like Darnold will do whatever it takes to contend against the 49ers, but it also doesn’t look like the injury is that serious. The Seahawks will need Darnold, and if he can’t go, Drew Lock will step in as KB1.

The Seahawks have played like the best team in the NFC this season, which may come as a surprise to some after the changes they made during the offseason. The talent was still always there, though, and it looks like Darnold has come in and taken the offense to a new level.

The next step is for them to win the playoffs, something Darnold was unable to do last season when he was with the Minnesota Vikings. It has hurt Darnold that he doesn’t come to play during big games, and this is the moment he can prove people wrong and help the Seahawks to the NFC Championship.

First, he has to be available, and it looks like that won’t be a problem.
