Samaki Walker ate a shot by Kobe Bryant that ended in tears

Everyone knew that Kobe Bryant had a way of doing things and expected others to fulfill it. That especially for his Lakers teammates.

One of them was former player Samaki Walker. Recently, Walker stepped forward to share the story of the time he was slapped by Kobe, according to Byron Scott’s Fast Break podcast.

It all started with an archery competition with a top prize of $100.

“Everybody’s shooting far, $100. So for $100, if you make it, you get the pot,” Walker said. “So long story short, Kobe ended up winning the pot. The rule is you have 48 hours to pay and then you’re good. You know everybody paid. I never heard a story that nobody paid $100. So it was the next day, I think we got on the bus, I think I forgot the money. I didn’t have cash, but it was right at 8 o’clock. still.”

Then Kobe pestered him before snapping.

“Kobe’s like, ‘Hey man, you got my money.’ I have headphones. So he’s on the bus. No, we’re going to shoot around, so he says, ‘Yo, you got my money.’ I said, ‘Man, I don’t have my wallet with me.’ I’m in my workout gear and everything. I said, ‘I’ve got you when we get back.’ So I put the headphones back on and bowed! He took them off. I like what the hell just happens.”

Walker wanted to wrestle with Kobe, but his teammates wouldn’t let him practice. In the end, Walker waited for Kobe on the bus.

“I decided I’m going to kill this guy and let’s get back on the bus and he left in a cab, he left,” Walker said. “He has his own bodyguards and they all went with him. They already planned it in advance.”

Later, Walker receives a text from Kobe, who is in tears, apologizing. He assumed there was something else going on in Bryant’s life.

“I answer the phone, it’s a message from him. My mother is crying. I swear to God she’s crying on her phone man. ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I don’t know why I did what I did with my friends.’ Now he calls me friend. But he’s literally on his phone emotional, which made me realize this is bigger than basketball.”

In the end, both of them talked and worked it out like gentlemen.
