SGA, Jalen Williams gets official injury timelines after All-Star break

The The Oklahoma City Thunder had a little luck from an injury perspective going into the All-Star break, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams both went down with injuries. Gilgeous-Alexander was forced to miss last weekend’s All-Star festivities as he recovers from a calf strain, while Williams re-aggravated a hamstring injury in a recent game against the Phoenix Suns.
Now, ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel has provided latest update at both Williams and SGA, alongside young guard Ajay Mitchell.
“Thunder says Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal strain) and Ajay Mitchell (abdominal sprain/left ankle sprain) will be re-evaluated in about a week,” Siegel reported on X, formerly Twitter. “Jalen Williams (right hamstring strain) will be re-evaluated in about two weeks.
The Thunder came out of the gates to one of the best starts in NBA history this year, but have fallen a bit since then, losing to the San Antonio Spurs in four of five games this year.
The good news for Oklahoma City is that they recently added some firepower at the trade deadline by acquiring Jared McCain from the Philadelphia 76ers, they don’t have to give up any players on their roster in the process.
McCain will likely see his name called quite a bit over the next few games as the team looks to stay afloat with two of its top players injured.
Either way, the Thunder will next take the floor on Friday night at home against the Brooklyn Nets, tip-off set for 8:00 PM ET.
