Shai Gilgeous-Alexander celebrates Jamaal Murray finally being named an All-Star


After a 121-111 win against Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander a celebrated player born in Canada Jamal Murray‘s first All-Star selection. For many, Murray’s All-Star celebration was long overdue. After the Guardian Hall of Fame Steve Nash called Gilgeous-Alexander the greatest Canadian NBA player ever, Shai talked about the growth of Canadian basketball during his post-game media availability.

After scoring a game-high 34 points on 11-of-16 shooting, Gilgeous-Alexander talked about Murray’s impressive regular seasonuntil now.

“Well, well, deservedly so – he’s been playing fantastic this year, first of all,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “Really good player. He’s earned it for sure. It might be a little late, to be honest. Just take what they give you. He’s earned it. And for Canadian basketball, it’s just cool. Growing up was like never in a million years. Steve Nash was the only one. He was an anomaly, and it didn’t make sense. He was athletic.

“So it was like, it was, like, yeah, that’s coincidental. It shows how good Steve was. But, yeah, it’s amazing. It just shows the growth of the game. And hats off to those guys like Steve, Andrew Wiggins, Corey Joseph, Tristan Thompson. Guys that were on their way to the NBA and NBA guys, like me, found their way to Jamal. We’ve been able to work with that and it’s our job to continue that, and I think we’re doing a good job,” he concluded. is Gilgeous-Alexander.

As a former Canadian-born guard and two-time MVP, NBA on Prime analyst Steve Nash crowned Thunder All Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the best Canadian.

Nash tagged Gilgeous-Alexander the best Canadian NBA player ever, he said during a studio game that named Nash the best Canadian, per NBA on Prime.

Steve Nash was an eight-time All-Star, five-time assists champion and seven-time All-NBA guard and retired without winning a championship. Nash was part of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team as one of the top 75 players to ever play in the league.
