Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Converse Ready to Release SHAI 001 ‘Ares Grey’

All eyes are on Oklahoma City Thunder this season with the best record in the NBA and wants to repeat as champion. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking to add another award to his already stacked resume, but is also focused on his debut signature sneaker with Converse, the SHAI 001. Next up, we’ll see the “Ares Grey” colorway hit retailers in the coming weeks.

First unveiled to the public in September 2025, the long-awaited debut signature sneaker from SGA has been making waves over the past few months. As creative director for Converse Basketball, Gilgeous-Alexander had direct input into the sneaker’s design, from the original sketch to the meaning of each color.

Coming in a monochrome look like “butter,” “Masi Blue” and “Charm Black“, this next “Ares Grey” colorway was created in honor of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s son, Ares. The pair has been worn by SGA multiple times this season and will officially hit retailers following confirmation from Converse Basketball.

Converse SHAI 001 “Ares Grey” Edition

The all gray colorway comes on a futuristic and sleek silhouette designed by Gilgeus-Alexander himself. A combination of materials, including mesh, neoprene and leather, is seen through the multi-panel upper. The shoes are based on a Nike Air Zoom sole, complete with a distinctive lace-up upper. The tongue and insoles are finished with the SGA logo.

The Converse SHAI 001 “Ares Grey” will release on January 22nd, 2026 for a standard retail tag of $130. The shoes will come loose ConverseNike SNKRS applicationand select partner retailers in limited quantities. Expect full size work as was the case with previous releases.
