Shai Gilgeous-Alexander emphatically denies Victor Vembanyama

It was a match in the NBA on Tuesday as Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs — the two best teams in the Western Conference — met for the fourth time this season.

The Thunder built a big lead in the third quarter. In the final seconds, Shai Gilegous-Alexander sent Paicom Center into a frenzy after his powerful block on Victor Vembanyama.

Stephon Castle tried to hit him with Vembanyama for the lane, but Gilgeous-Alexander managed to spike the ballwith the 7-foot-4 center falling to the floor.

Just when you thought you’d seen it all, Gilgeous-Alexander reaches another climax.

The Thunder defeated the Spurs 119-98 to finally get one after going 3-all in their first three meetings, including the NBA Cup semifinals.

Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 34 points and four blocks, one shy of a career high, to go along with five rebounds and five assists. He shot 11 of 23 from the field and 11 of 13 from the charity stripe.

Jalen Williams provided support with 20 points, three assists and two steals.

Oklahoma City improved to 33-7, including 19-2 at home.

Vembanjama, who recently returned to the starting lineup, had a poor game with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Castle led the Spurs with 20 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

San Antonio fell to 27-12including 13-7 on the road.

The Thunder and Spurs could contend again if they continue to dominate the Western Conference. It could also be a new rivalry with two of the league’s most elite players in Gilgeous-Alexander and Vembaniam.
