Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has achieved only his successes in NBA history
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander now has plenty of doubtersas many question the legitimacy of some of the points he scores because of his cheating ways. But no one should ever doubt it Oklahoma City Thunder star is at the top of his game right now. On Tuesday night, Gilgeous-Alexander delivered another signature game, posting 30 points and 12 assists to lead the Thunder to their eighth straight win to open the year, a 126-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Gilgeous-Alexander has been so consistently great that the Thunder don’t seem to have missed Jaylen Williams one bit as the Thunder’s All-Star wing continues to recover from multiple wrist surgeries. He scored 20 or more points for his 80th consecutive outing, which is just a glimpse of how reliable the superstar is.
Just to add even more feathers to the Thunder star’s cap, he became first player ever in NBA history to score 250 points and dish out 80 assists while winning the first eight games of a season, according to OptaSTATS on X (formerly Twitter).
This is sheer brilliance for Gilgeous-Alexander, who is in the prime of his career at 27 years old. His development into arguably the best player in the league has been phenomenal and speaks volumes for how legendary his work ethic is – paying off in the form of an NBA title, regular season MVP and perhaps most importantly, an NBA Finals award.
The Thunder are the favorites to win it all again, and Gilgeous-Alexander’s consistent brilliance continues to be the engine that powers this unstoppable OKC machine. They have such a complete team, and their defense is already in first place in the league in points allowed per 100 possessions.
Alas, with the way the schedule is set up, OKC might have a tough time keeping their undefeated streak going.
The Thunder are off to an undefeated start against the feisty Trail Blazers on Wednesday

Of course, the Blazers are coming off a disheartening loss against a Lakers team that was missing Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. But this should just light a fire under these proud blazers.
The Thunder also travel to Portland after beating the Clippers at the Intuit Dome, and that’s just a lot of wear and tear on anyone, even OKC.
Can Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder withstand what will surely be a tough effort by the Blazers to extend their undefeated start to the year to nine games?
