Shai Gilgeous-Alexander passed Oscar Robertson on this NBA all-time list
The Oklahoma City Thunder it cannot be stopped. They went 8-0 to start the season as they demolished the Los Angeles Clippers, 126-107, despite being on the road. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been in MVP form since the start of the new campaign, and that continued Tuesday night as he had 30 points, four rebounds and 12 assists to lead OKC to its eighth straight win — the best start to a season in OKC franchise history.
Gilgeous-Alexander is busy with his own streak. After surpassing the 20-point mark again, the Thunder star extended his 20-point streak to 80 – the third longest in history NBA, according to the official ClutchPoints account on X (formerly Twitter). The legendary has passed Oscar Robertson on that all-time leaderboard, which is no mean feat.
Alas, the Thunder star has a long way to go before he catches the player ahead of him on that all-time list. Wilt Chamberlain has the two longest 20-point streaks in league history, with separate streaks of 126 and 92 games. Chamberlain is nearly unmatched when it comes to stuffing the stat sheet, but Gilgeous-Alexander is getting closer with the way he’s blossomed into perhaps the most consistent star in today’s NBA.
The last time Gilgeous-Alexander didn’t score less than 20 points in a regular-season game as recently as Oct. 30 of last year, when he scored just 18 points in the Thunder’s 105-93 win over the San Antonio Spurs. He had three games during the playoffs last season in which he scored less than 20 (Game 1 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets and Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves).
With the Thunder off to a great start and Gilgeous-Alexander back in net once again, another MVP season could be in the cards for the current regular season and Finals MVP.
The Thunder are cruising despite the absence of Jalen Williams

No one dare underestimate the importance of Jalen Williams to this Thunder team. In addition to being an active presence on the defensive end, he excels at stabbing into the lane and exploiting the space Gilgeous-Alexander creates. Williams is one of the best second options in the league, and he still hasn’t settled into OKC — which makes their 8-0 start that much more terrifying.
It is not entirely clear when Williams will return from a wrist injury. But he can certainly take his sweet time in his recovery, as the Thunder are rolling even amid his absence.
