Sixers secure without forcing in Brooklyn

Philly did the job to secure the win without having to fight for the win at the end. In this case, despite the absence of Joel Embiid, the trio Maxi-Grimes-Oubre (26, 22 and 29 points) knew how to perfectly manage the nets of Cam Thomas (29 points).
The Sixers held on in the first quarter, despite a good start by Cam Thomas and a remarkable comeback by Ziaire Williams, the author of 9 points at the end of the period, including 3+1 and a dunk. In response, Philly could really count on Kelly Oubre’s 22 points scored in the first act alone to stay in the lead (37-40)!
The nets are too delicate
Kelly Aubrey’s helping hand got his team off to a great start against the Nets, who fell quickly after that. First there was a 10-1 run by Andre Drummond in the lane and a VJ Edgecombe 3-pointer (44-57), followed by another big sequence by VJ Edgecombe, punctuated by another 3-pointer and a hard dunk that forced Brooklyn to take a first down-62 (47).
Trailing -18 at the break after another hot streak by Tyrese Maxey (55-73), the Nets kept the illusion alive during the quarter by briefly pulling back ten lengths thanks to a 9-0 run fueled by Michael Porter Jr. and dunks by Nick Claxton and Cam Thomas. (75-85). But the Sixers never lost their footing, between two baskets by Kelly Oubre and 7 points by Quentin Grimes to end the third quarter (78-90).
Four baskets by Trenton Watford and a new triple by Quentin Grimes quickly put an end to uncertainty (83-109), and Philadelphia managed to record another victory, its fifth of the season (105-129).
WHAT TO REMEMBER
Kelly Oubre has been on fire since the start. The winger opened the game on 9/11 shooting and scored 22 points in 11 minutes, ending his festival with a mid-step back and two 3-pointers. Enough to dampen the Nets’ enthusiasm from the first act. The author of 29 points at the end, visibly injured his ankle in the last action of the third quarter and did not play after that.
Career passing record for Quentin Grimes. The Sixers sixth man panicked counters with 13 assists, a new personal best, to go with his 22 points. A solid match and a free final where everything went well for him.
VJ Edgecombe makes another appearance. Valuable influence behind the trio of Maxi-Grimes-Oubre with his 16 points and 3 assists. Especially after his two 3-pointers and his big dunk, Brooklyn started to pull away.
Nets in the dark. Six games, six losses, third by 19 points or more. We won’t say we didn’t expect it, but the results are here. Only New Orleans fared worse from the start. Brooklyn continues tonight against Minnesota, before traveling to Indiana on Wednesday.
