Snoop Dogg commented live on Steve Kerr’s big tantrum

Steve Kerr and the WarriorsIf the Warriors (19-18) are, by their own admission, only an average team in the NBA right now, they are entertaining to say the least. The latest example was last nightwith Steve Kerr losing his temper on the refs… even though he did Snoop Dogg who comments the sequence live on television!

The rapper is amused to see Golden State’s coach so enraged, while the Warriors have had far fewer laughs throughout this matchup, complaining about several refereeing decisions.

Because if Steve Kerr allowed his anger to explode, it was because the refereeing body made a series of questionable decisions. Moments earlier, the officials denied Stephen Curry a great basket because John Collins’ foul was too far upstream of the shot. The whistle, however, came very late.

“Usually, when it can be whistled or not, the referees let the action go and look at the success of the basket” explains the “boss”. “I’ve never seen a late whistle where the referees ended up explaining that there was a foul and it ended up being a no-goal.”

Late whistles can actually be a way for referees to “make up” for a missed field goal due to a foul. In this case, there was nothing to recover since the basket was in… especially since the error invalidated it.

Stephen Curry committed six fouls

Brian Forte assured us after the match that the whistle was correct. However, he admitted a mistake about what really angered Steve Kerr. Because seconds after Stephen Curry ended up deflecting a shot, Gary Payton II was blocked by John Collins. The problem is that the layup hit the boards before the block, which the refs missed. It was too much for the Warriors coach.

Brian Forte explains that the referees could not review the action because it did not take place in the last two minutes of the match. The only way for the refs to check the slow motion would be to blow the whistle … and for the Clippers to take the “challenge” of asking if the ball had already touched the backboard before the block.

But for Steve Kerr and the Warriors, these two picks undermined the “momentum” they had been building.

“It was two actions in quick succession. Five points.” (rejected two baskets plus a free throw after a technical foul by the Clippers, editor’s note). It’s hard to make up five points at this point in the match.” explains Draymond Green. “But our group kept fighting and that’s what you have to do in these situations. That’s what we did. It’s just a shame we couldn’t win.”

Despite everything, the Warriors did have the game-winning shot, which Jimmy Butler missed by a wide margin. Because it wasn’t Golden State’s night, and Stephen Curry was no longer on the court, after going out for six fouls, to pull it off.
