Spencer Brown announces he will play in Week 15 against the Patriots

The Buffalo Bills is expected to get a big boost on the offensive line this weekend, as starting tackle Spencer Brown confirmed he plans to return for Sunday’s key match AFC East against the New England Patriots.

Brown missed the previous two games after injured his shoulder during Buffalo’s 23-19 loss to the Houston Texansbut after practice on wednesday, he made his status clear.

“It’s good. I’m off on Sunday. I’ll see you on Sunday,” Brown told reporters when asked for an update on his shoulder, via Matt Parrin of siracuse.com.

With Brown sidelined, Buffalo relied on Alec Anderson and Ryan Van Demark to hold down the right tackle spot. Offense continued to be at a high level, including a solid performance in the chase powered by James Cook against the Pittsburgh Steelers and a vintage display by Josh Allen in last week’s 39-34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

But Brown’s return comes at a crucial time for both Buffalo and the division race. The Bills (9-4) are playing in a game that has implications for the AFC East clinch, but this time it’s the Patriots (11-2) who can secure the crown with a win.

That dynamic added fuel to Buffalo’s motivations this week, as players acknowledged the importance of prevention New England from celebrating at their expense. When Brown was asked if the Patriots’ opportunity provided extra motivation, he didn’t shy away from the competitive advantage.

“I mean, yeah, we’re going to take pride in winning football games and they’ve got something going for it, so we’re going to try to take that away,” Brown said, via Matt Parrin . “I think that’s the name of the game, they’re going to try to take pride in it and be motivated to win. That’s right, we’re trying to win. We’re winning games and we’ll find out on Sunday.”

The Bills remain in the hunt for a sixth straight AFC East title, though help is needed. Still, Sunday offers an opportunity to slow the New England rush and hang on Buffalo firmly in the playoff conversation.
