Spurs trade proposal to Bucks pairs Giannis Antetokounmpo with Wembey
Seeing Giannis Antetokounmpo wearing a different jersey than the Milwaukee Bucks it would be surreal. But with trade rumors swirling around Antetokounmpo again, there’s a good chance it’s a reality.
There have been numerous whispers around the league that Antetokounmpo wants to join another team. The Bucks’ middling record this season doesn’t help, though they’ve been plagued by multiple injuries.
Amid the latest saga, San Antonio Spurs are one of the monitoring teams. This isn’t the first time Antetokounmpo has been linked to the Spurs despite already having a cornerstone in the Victor Vembanyama.
Spurs Trade Proposal to Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Spurs are in a new chapter after the retirement of Gregg Popovic as coach. The way is open to build a new legacy. They have played well this season despite Vembanyama being ruled out again with a calf strain.
A bright future in San Antonio could be tempting for the 30-year-old Antetokounmpo. It’s safe to assume the Spurs must feel the same way about the do-it-all forward if he becomes available.
The Spurs could offer a package of Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and a 2026 or 2027 first-round pick in exchange for Antetokounmpo.
It’s very hard to part with Castle. The reigning Rookie of the Year hasn’t even scratched the surface at 21 years old. But it’s also extremely hard to pass up the chance to get Antetokounmpo, who is still in his prime. It’s a classic win-now-vs-future scenario for the Spurs. But simply put, they’ll have to give up something big to get a player like “The Greek Freak,” and Castle is their best asset.
Consider this argument: There may not be another player like Antetokounmpo, while there are plenty of youngsters who could play like Castle.
The Spurs could offer De’Aaron Fox instead of Castle, but it’s highly doubtful the Bucks would want the 27-year-old guard with an expensive contract of over 37 million dollars in five years.
As for the other substitutes, Vassell was largely a disappointment for Spurs, although he had his moments. The same can be said for Sočan, whose time has decreased this season. Both could see plenty of opportunities with the Bucks.
A possible duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Victor Vembaniama

Just writing that previous phrase is already a terrifying thought. Imagine Antetokounmpo and Wembaniama both patrolling the paint with their ridiculous length and imposing height. Good luck scoring goals Spurs.
Imagine a starting lineup of Wembaniam, Antetokounmpo, Fox, Dylan Harper and Julian Champagnie. They will have all the bases covered on both ends. A big-to-big scheme with Wembanyama and Antetokounmpo would be nearly unstoppable.
Chemistry between the All-Star big men probably won’t be much of a problem, especially since they’re almost soul mates. Two guys who came from athletic families and grew up in Europe. Although their childhoods were different economically, they both worked hard to make it to the NBA.
Furthermore, Vembanjama and Antetokounmpo know about pressure and the responsibilities that come from being the foundation of the organization. It’s a shared experience that not many teammates have.
The Spurs haven’t been to the playoffs since 2019, but they have a great chance to end the drought this season. If they can get Antetokounmpo and Vembanjama stays healthy, a return to the NBA Finals wouldn’t be a stretch.
