Steelers fans are clamoring for Mike Tomlin’s job after the first half against the Ravens

During the one-sided Wild Card matchup against the Baltimore Ravensfans across social media rallied Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for another season in which their team doesn’t look ready for the playoffs.
Tomlin gets a lot of credit for his regular season hitting streak. After the 2024 season, Tomlin had his 18th consecutive winning season. When Tomlin took over as head coach in Pittsburgh from Bill Cowher, he continued one of the most impressive streaks in the NFL.
However, while the Steelers are consistently successful in the regular season, they seem to fall apart in the first round of the playoffs every time.
Well, at least in recent years.
Since 2020, the Steelers have made the playoffs four times — including 2024 — losing in the Wild Card round three times. If the Steelers continue to play the way they did through the first half against the Ravens, it will be their fourth wild card loss in five seasons under Tomlin.
So it’s understandable that Steelers fans are frustrated. However, it’s not even just the fans who are falling for Tomlin. Kirk Herbstreit made sure to get his words in from the broadcast booth as well.
However, while Herbstreit let Tomlin have it during the halftime break, fans across social media made sure their frustrations were heard.
Ari Meirov, a household name in X’s NFL community, gave notice the Steelers’ trend in playoff appearances under Tomlin over the past few years.
“#Steelers have now trailed by double digits at halftime in five straight playoff games,” Meirow wrote.
Along with their consistent mistakes in the playoffs, one of the deciding factors in social media going crazy for Tomlin was his the decision to strike at a quarter and an inch. Several social media users went after Tomlin after his decision, starting with a Pittsburgh Pirates blogger named Cody Duncan.
“Mike Tomlin hit from less than an inch to get it in a win-or-go-home playoff game,” Duncan wrote. “He’s a scared coach.”
Along with Duncan, SB Nation’s Jarrett Bailey made his voice heardalso.
“You need 4 inches and you jump. “Mike Tomlin’s coaches are more scared than any ‘big’ coach in football,” Bailey wrote.
While many fans were upset with the fourth down’s decision, social media didn’t stop there.
Here are some of the best reactions to the Steelers’ first half, with most of the posts following Tomlin:
