Stephen A. Smith is lining up Anthony Edwards as the next face of the NBA

After Minnesota TimberwolvesAnthony Edwards won the All-Star Game MVP title award, it’s only fitting that we anoint him as the face of the NBA, says Stephen A Smith of ESPN. Speaking of Edwards’ all-around game, Smith says Edwards’ unique skill set sets him apart from young phenom Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.

For Smith, Edwards is worthy unofficial title face of the NBA, he said, according to ESPN’s First Take.

“(Victor) Vembanyama, brother, is special. But that damn Ant-Man, He’s something to see. He’s Jordan-style. He hasn’t won yet. So we can’t say that,” Smith said. “But his game — the purity of it — the handles, the shooting, the athleticism, the swagger. He doesn’t believe it, but his boy Stephen A will tell him. You got it all.”

Smith says the average fan can relate more to Edwards than the towering Vembanyama.

“A lot of people can’t relate to somebody who’s 7 feet tall. We never can. We can’t be that. It’s just an anomaly. Ant-Man is just like Steph (Curry), the baby killer. Damn, look at his size and he’s doing what he’s doing,” Smith added. “Look at Ant-Man doing what he’s doing… (He’s) going to be the face of the NBA. Mark it down. Vembanyama is right there with him. He might win before him, for all we know, but Ant-Man will be there.”

Edwards scored a total of 32 points in three games in 26 minutes. He helped secure a 47-21 win for the USA Stars in the All-Star Game finale.

Windhorst kept 100 on Edwards, according to ESPN’s Get Up.

“This guy kind of does everything you could want from a superstar,” Windhorst said. “He plays both ends of the floor, he’s a fantastic dunk, he’s a great 3-point shooter, he’s got a great personality, he’s been a winner. He hasn’t won a championship, but he’s led the Wolves to the best two years in their franchise history, and he has an incredible competitive game, which he showed in this game.”
